ja hab ich, hat aber auch nix genützt, das gleiche Problem habe ich auch bei Morrowind und das hat auch schon sehr viel Kohle gekostet...
Mitglied-50426.01.2003, 15:45 Uhr

vielleicht kannst du damit was anfangen:
Hello,

The first thing to do when you experience trouble running Ultima
Online, whether it be a crash, lockup, or illegal operations message, is to
check:

1) That your machine meets the minimum specifications for running the
game:
- Pentium 200
- 32 MB RAM
- Windows 95 or Windows 98
- 2 MB PCI video card (DirectX supported set to 16-bit color)
- 16-bit sound card (DirectX supported)
- 4x CD-ROM drive
- Microsoft-compatible mouse, 100% Win95/98 compatible
- Slip/PPP or direct connect at 28.8kbps or better with 32-bit TCP/IP
stack
2) That you are using the latest possible version of DirectX.
Ultima Online requires Microsoft's DirectX to run properly. The latest
version can be found at:
http://www.microsoft.com/directx/download.asp

Note: Many machines running Windows 95 may have difficulty when
upgrading to DirectX 7.0 or 8.0. This problem is caused by having older video
and sound cards whose manufactures no longer produce updated drivers to
work with the newest versions of DirectX. For more information on
determining if your video and sound cards support newer versions of DirectX
please check the cards manufactures website.

For DirectX to work properly, your hardware device drivers must be
compatible. Once you have installed DirectX, use the following steps to
determine if the drivers are compatible:
A) Navigate to c:Program FilesDirectXSetup.
B) Run \"dxdiag.exe\" (the one with the yellow X icon).
Once the diagnostic tool has loaded, check the sound and display tabs.
Look at the main driver version number (on the upper right, next to
where it says \"Version\"). The number should be 4.05.00.0000 or higher, if
you see a blank line or a number that is below 4.05.00.0000, you will
need to update to a compatible DirectX driver, check the manufacturer's
website. If you can't find a compatible driver, you should contact the
company, either by phone or e-mail to find out if there are any
available. If there are actually no certified drivers available for your sound
or display card, then you will need to replace it with a card that is
supported.

Certified:
The driver has been tested and approved by Microsoft and should work
with all DirectX applications. If the driver is certified, the problem
may not be linked to that piece of hardware. Still, always make sure that
you have the most current drivers available for your hardware, if you
don't know if you do, you probably don't.

If you have recently purchased a new PC or hardware device, do not
assume that you have the latest drivers.

Not certified:
This means Microsoft's Windows Hardware Quality Labs have not tested
the driver. These drivers may function properly, if the version is
4.05.00.0000 or higher, however, there could still be some difficulties.

If you have never updated your drivers before, you should consult your
system or hardware manufacturer to get their recommendation. If you
choose to upgrade the drivers yourself, follow the installation
instructions provided with the driver.

Drivers are compatible (greater than 4.05.00.0000), but still having
problems? In some cases, video drivers may have problems changing to the
game's resolution settings and refresh rates. Set your Desktop
resolution to 800x600 and the Color Palette is to 16-bit color.

Here are a few other things you can also try that may allow the game to
run properly.
1) Set the graphics acceleration to basic: Right-click \"My Computer\"
and select \"Properties\", \"Performance\" then \"Graphics\". Adjust the slider
to the second notch from the left, \"Basic Accelerator Functions\". If
this doesn't work, try it on \"None\".
2) You can also edit the uo.cfg ( http://support.uo.com/tech_7.html )
file in the UO directory, with the following lines:

PageFlip=gdi
Fullscreen=off
AllowWindowResize=no
ShowIntroAnim=no
FrameSkipping=yes
ShowIncomingNames=off
StatReport=off

If these .cfg changes do not seem to work try PageFlip=on (or off) and
FrameSkipping=no. Experiment with the different values to find out what
works best.

PageFlip=(on/off/gdi) - Applies to fullscreen mode. \"Off\" may be faster
but the display may not be as smooth and there may be some tearing of
the image. \"gdi\" avoids using DirectDraw as much as possible while still
in fullscreen. If you have a problem with an image remaining on the
screen, where you can use your cursor to 'paint' it away to reveal the
image beneath, setting this to 'gdi' should fix it. There can be conflicts
between DirectDraw and GDI depending on the DirectX drivers on the PC,
try updating any drivers.

FullScreen=(on/off) - Controls the full screen toggle and forces UO
into a windowed mode. Once you get into the game you can hold down the ALT
key and press ENTER and this will put UO back into fullscreen mode.

AllowWindowResize=(yes/no) - Toggles the Big Window option,

ShowIntroAnim=(on/off) - Disables/enables intro animation.

FrameSkipping=(yes/no) - This will make the client attempt to skip draw
frames when the time spent drawing becomes too high (You may notice an
improvement in performance when in crowded areas). This can also cause
\"stuttering\" in the image if your video card cannot keep up.
ShowIncomingNames=(off/on) - Toggles whether or not character names are
displayed as they come on screen.

StatReport=(on/off) - Toggles the stat bar underneath targeted
characters.

3) Disable Direct3D and DirectDraw. Once again, run \"dxdiag.exe\". On
the [Display] tab are the options to disable Direct3D and DirectDraw
acceleration. If you have lowered your graphics acceleration, Direct3D may
already be disabled.

To ensure optimal game performance, be sure to shut down all
non-critical background applications in Windows before starting the game,
especially programs like Office9x, Guard Dog or other virus scanners and ICQ.
To do this, hold the [CTRL] and [ALT] keys down at the same time, then
hit the [DELETE] key once. This will bring up the \"Close Programs\"
window. The only applications that you want listed here when running the
game are \"Explorer\" and \"Systray\". Close all other programs by double
clicking on them. You will need to repeat the process after closing each
application. Some applications may take multiple times before closing.
Doing this will ensure that other programs aren't using up precious
system resources.

Once you have shut down all unnecessary apps, connect to your ISP and
start UO.

Thank you
